Turns out Mister Interlock employees prefer to wear their comfortable outer shoes when laying stone. Steel toe safety boots are punishing on the feet and ankles when working on your knees or bending over and that’s mostly what laying stone is all about. The Slipp-R allows outer shoes to stretch and eliminates some of the foot-ache associated with tight fitting and rigidly constructed safety shoes or boots. This is especially true for the ball of the foot and toes. The rubber material is sturdy and abrasion resistant. It can withstand nicks and cuts better than thin PVC or plastic and there is no deterioration due to extreme heat or cold. The Slipp-R will not harden, split or crack even in extreme cold conditions. All these characteristics were important when deciding which safetytoe overshoe would be best for stone installers.
Most stone workers wear the same comfortable shoes for a season according to Mister Interlock. This makes it even easier to acquire the right size of Slipp-R. However, the owner of the company at times needs extra workers for some jobs. The Slipp-R is even more attractive since it comes in 8 different sizes. Temporary workers can be a problem if toe protection is required but with a half dozen sizes of Slipp-Rs in the truck most situations can now be accommodated.
Any stone installation project brings with it the risk of falling objects. It’s a well known fact that the majority of toe injuries arise from heavy objects falling short distances. That would certainly be the risk when stone needs to be carried to where it will be laid. In a lot of installations stone is lifted from skids and carried to where it is to be set. This can mean transferring heavy objects from one worker to another. Even when mechanical means are employed, the risk of toe injury from rolling equipment exists. The benefits of toe protection as offered by the Slipp-R are obvious. |

Picture - John Smith is the foreman for Mister Interlock of Toronto, Canada.
John's employer, the owner of Mister Interlock, asked us if the Slipp-R could improve toe safety on his job sites.
Naturally, we felt sure using steel toe cap overshoes would do the trick and now John agrees. |

Interlocking stone is usually the last item to be installed on a house renovation or new house project. Often, laying interlocking pavers is
an upgrade when repairing an existing driveway or path. This means
that the vast majority of Mister Interlock work sites are free of the
usual debris associated with construction.
That being the case, toe protection is all that is required and the
Slipp-R provides more than adequate toe protection required by law. |
